With summer officially here, it’s time to update your wardrobe. Just because summertime is more casual doesn’t mean you should stock up on shorts and t-shirts. These are the latest in men’s fashion for summer 2016.
White Chinos
Chinos are lightweight, slim pants made from cotton. They are the bridge between dress slacks and jeans and can easily be dressed up or down. They should be fitted without being too tight or too long. Shorter cuts work better if you want to look younger.
White is in this season, though you can find chinos in other neutrals and earth tones as well. Pairing the white pants with a pop of color on top gives you a bright, modern appearance great for get-togethers and dates. Wear linen shirts and woven belts for a breezier look. For a more sophisticated tone, choose other neutrals or vintage prints, or add a blazer.
Suede Jacket
This Seventies throwback piece is a good investment because it’s suitable for all seasons and is a softer but just as luxurious alternative to the leather jacket. Thankfully, suede now comes in more stylish colors than just Western tan.
Gray and Green
Although these colors are usually associated with colder weather, they are gaining popularity in men’s summer fashion, too. What sets gray apart during the warmer seasons is how you wear it. Opt for texture, patterns, or multiple shades of gray at once. For green, stick with medium to dark hues.
Short Swim Trunks
Gone are the days of wearing board shorts, unless you’re actually surfing. Swim trunks that reach mid-thigh are currently the trending length. Go with a bright solid, retro pattern, or classic stripe. Pick darker colors if you want to draw attention away from your midsection.
Sunglasses
Sunglasses are a must-have in the bright sunlight of summer, but you’ll need more than one pair in order to get the job done right. Find a pair for casual events, beach and poolside fun, work, and formal affairs such as weddings. Having multiple sunglasses is a simple, quick way to change up your look.
