Every so often, Well Cultured gets an e-mail from a college student desperately needing help to survive college- or a highschooler worried about what to expect. While everyone has a little bit of rough time in college, often the big problems- the life-ending sort of mishaps that leave you with a .5 GPA and no job- can be avoided so long as you do the right stuff. With that being said, here are some of the worst things you can do in college- by some of us who have been there ourselves.Getting a Worthless Major

As horrible as it sounds to say this, a worthless major is often worse than never going to college in the first place. While a college degree of any sort is good for applications, some notably ridiculous degrees- some "General Studies" majors, "Gender Studies" majors, and even some school's respective Communications, Business and History majors can leave you hanging job-wise. When picking out a major of any sort, make sure you have an "exit plan" for graduation- even if it involves going for a M.A. or some other form of graduate school- but have a plan.
