Adults shouldn’t get excited about back-to-school sales, especially if they’re long past their college years; however, that doesn’t mean you don’t get a little tingle when August and September roll around, and plaids, tweeds, and loafers pop up in stores.
Don’t worry – instead of judging, we’re celebrating all things scholastic this Fall. Here’s how to wear the trends, even if you’re sitting in a cubicle and not a cafeteria:
Perfect in Plaid
It’s a back-to-school staple: plaid dominates fall fashion every year, and it doesn’t look like it’s going anywhere anytime soon. The print is universally flattering, and with recent fashion houses like Bottega Veneta displaying checked coats on their Fall 2016 runways, you’re sure to be the man to watch when you breeze into the office in plaid.
Trendy in Trousers
The slouchy trouser is back, complete with pleats. Loose wool trousers look good on most men, and the look is showing up in traditionally slim-loving shows like Hermes – though their version of an elasticized waist was still tailored.
Not a fan of the flowy look? Take a note from Hermes’ fashion journal and get your trousers tailored or hemmed for a look that’s still on-trend without sacrificing your personal style.
Fashionable in Funnel Necks
Business Insider, of all publications, predicted that the slouchy trouser look would be popular in 2016, as well as the rock ‘n roll look – and they were right. The funnel neck shirt is a mock turtleneck that’s a bit smaller than your average one, and can either zip-up or foldover.
The funnel neck looks best under a large coat with tailored pants or jeans.
Utilizing these trends is sure to make you the cool kid at the office – and may even help in getting your workplace crush to notice you – if not for your fashion prowess, then your ability to pull off the slouchy trouser trend.
